Jim Hitchener

As a child I grew up on my parents large sheep, cattle, wheat and Lucerne property near Texas in Queensland.   My schooling was as a boarding student at Queensland Gramma School and then progressing to Qld Uni to study agriculture.

At that stage in my life, anything to do with farming and the land attracted me, in fact, this lead me in a direction where I achieved a Degree in Agricultural Science and coupled this with a Degree in Commerce.  As a young man I was now a qualified Agronomist.

During the course of the next 20 odd years I worked with several companies developing products and farming methods in Brisbane and The Downs, working for ICI and Incitec, in fact at Queensland Wheat Research Institute I worked with their field agronomist team who developed the currently used Soil Analysis System (now known as Soil Testing) which is currently widely used even as part of the building process.


Working in the field of agronomy involved me in the day to day profitability of the companies that I worked for, as  such, I became really interested in helping businesses improve their operation and turnover by introducing effective procedures. This lead me to start my own business as a Small Business Development Consultant.

It was approx. 10 years ago, in the early stages of Toowoomba Home Loans, that I was involved in a consultancy capacity to assist this newly formed business with the implementation of their procedures. I was then offered the opportunity to join Toowoomba Home Loans as a finance consultant. Impressed with this company's philosophy and vision this is where I stayed and am extremely happy and have great satisfaction in assisting all my clients with their finance requirements. I feel I have done a complete turnaround and am really enjoying my finance profession.

My life is now firmly entrenched in Toowoomba, I am married with 5 children (1 married) and two Grandchildren. I understand the pressures of life and the need to have a secure home and a sound plan for the future.
